In our creative lives, it is important to access a variety of modalities in which we can develop our skills and open ourselves to the spontaneity of a richer writing, acting, and/or directing experience. Using psychodramatic methods in a non-therapeutic setting, this workshop provides an opportunity for participants to explore the multiplicity of roles we all have in our own repertoire and to bring alive the inner world of the characters we write about, direct, and act. This can provide new insight into how our characters behave, emote, and change throughout the drama.

This workshop is suitable for everyone within the creative industry, including beginners to psychodrama—particularly writers, actors, and directors. It is an invitation to explore the use of psychodrama tools, particularly in relation to character development and the world in which the character lives. Our workshop aims to warm participants up to the understanding and process of this way of working. We aim to provide a safe and containing environment in which writers, actors, and directors can bring their own work and explore it in a new and different way with like-minded professionals.

Described by some as “a rehearsal for living” (J.L. Moreno) Psychodrama is a form of psychotherapy, which focuses on doing, thinking, feeling and reflecting.   The basic components of Psychodrama contain a stage, an audience, a protagonist, a director, and the use of auxiliary egos. The active nature of this approach allows participants to experience and explore its application therapeutically and educationally which would include identifying the repertoire of roles we all hold in life and how we use them. Psychodrama sessions have three distinct and inter-dependent components: warm-up, enactment and sharing.  This event provides insight into the dynamic nature and application of Psychodrama.
